Making Complex Renovation Projects Easy

What We Do

Renovation projects can be hard, but they don’t have to be. Instead of costly clearance conflicts, change orders, and delays during construction, Ashe Consultants offers MEP designs that can be built on time and within budget.

How do we do it?

Every renovation project starts with a comprehensive field survey to establish existing conditions. We record locations, dimensions, conditions, and operating parameters of every system we expect to modify or replace, as well as dimensions of walls, ceilings, structural elements, and anything else that may conflict or interact with our design.

But we don’t stop there.

We gather and analyze original design drawings, balancing reports, and utility bills. We examine building automation system diagrams, schedules, and set points. We have electrical circuits traced and panels metered. We collect every piece of information available before we begin our design work.

The result is a detailed understanding of the physical and functional constraints that bound our designs. We use this knowledge to create MEP designs that can be built as shown and will function as intended. That’s how our projects get built on time and within budget.

Working directly for project owners or as a sub-consultant to other design professionals, Ashe Consultants has performed hundreds of traditional MEP design projects ranging from basic tenant fit outs in commercial buildings to complex smoke evacuation systems within historic federal facilities. With extensive experience creating MEP design documents for many different clients, we pride ourselves in understanding client requirements and delivering designs that meet project objectives.

Traditional Design

Ashe Consultants regularly teams up with some of the region’s best mechanical and electrical contractors to deliver complicated projects with aggressive schedules.  Design/Build project delivery allows for free communication and careful coordination between engineer and contractor from start to finish.  Contractors appreciate our thorough upfront efforts that allow them to bid with accuracy and confidence.

Not all engineering projects result in construction drawings. Studies, assessments, and investigations provide building owners the information they need to develop appropriate maintenance budgets, prioritize future construction projects, and improve building energy performance. Depending on the project, this can involve detailed field survey to establish existing conditions, analysis of original design documents, performance of load calculations, and comparisons of expected versus actual energy use.
